Keep God First

Let us always keep God first in all things this year as 2 Corinthians 5v17-21 tells us ....... "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new person. The old life is gone and a new life has begun. And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to Himself through Christ. And so God had given us this task of reconciling people to Him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself, no longer counting people's sins against them. And He gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. So we are Christ's ambassadors, God is making His appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead "come back to God" for God the Father made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering of our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ"

Dear Heavenly Father

Thank you that you made all things new. Thank you for all that you've allowed into our lives this past year, the good along with the hard things which have reminded us how much we need you and rely on your presence to fill us every single day.

As your Spirit leads us each step of this new year we ask that you will guide our decisions and turn our hearts to deeply desire you above everything else.

We ask that you will open doors that need to be opened and close the ones that need to be shut tight.

We ask you that you would help us to let go of the things to which you've said "no", "not yet" or "just wait" and so we ask for help above everyone of our dreams and desires that fill our hearts so that we will pursue you first as "your kingdom comes and you will is done on earth as in Heaven"

And so we ask Father for your wisdom, strength and power to always be constantly present to make us strong and courageous this year for the road ahead.

Keeping us from the snares and traps of this world by "delivering us from temptations and the evil one" that you would whisper in our ears when we need to run and whisper in our hearts when we need to stand our ground.

We pray that you would give us understanding, discernment and insight beyond our years to understand your will this year, to hear your voice and to stay on your path that you have given us, not swerving to the right or the left being too easily distracted by other things that would pull us away from a close walk with you.

So we confess our need for you, asking that you will make all things new in our hearts, our minds and our lives, keeping your words of truth planted firmly within us, helping to keep focused on what is pure and right, giving us power to be obedient to your word.

And when we think about where we've been and what we've done remind us our Father of who we are in Christ and that your purpose and plans for us will not fail.

Help us to be known as great givers in helping us to be generous and kind in looking to the needs of others and not our own.

And so we ask that the fruits of your Spirit will radiate from our lives - your love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.

Shine your light in us, through us and over us so that we may make a difference in the world around us this year, for your glory and your will.

May all of your plans for us succeed, reflecting your peace and hope to a world that so desperately needs you and your healing.

To you be the glory and honour this new year and forever.
